Are coastal areas cooler or warmer than inland areas in the winter?

Coastal areas have a milder climate than inland areas. They are warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. That’s because land near an ocean is influenced by the temperature of the oceans.

Why is it cooler near the coast?

Air will flow from high to low pressure and that will create a wind. The cooler air over the ocean will flow to the warmer air off the coast, creating what we call a Sea Breeze, thus making it feel a bit cooler when along a waterfront.

It’s a lot more dangerous than the Mediterranean.” With winter approaching, Mocanu warns that already by November, “the water will be very cold. Taking the Black Sea route will be ludicrous”.
